A shallow existance

I am standing before you here today, admitting that I have been living a shallow life of ignorance. Until today, I have had no idea what I've been missing. No idea of the wonderful and amazing things that were ahead of me.

But today, I have come out of my darkness. I have seen the light. I have discovered the following:Behold... The Squeezo machine!

Today, I filled this machine with tomatoes, celery, butternut squash, onions and carrots and it produced for me the most delicious V5 juice I could ever imagine. I am still in amazement over how this old-fashioned machine intelligently strained off all of the good stuff for me and spit all of the "yuck" out the end.

Scavenging in my dad's kitchen and garage always produces good stuff!

Always listening to everybody!

Sarah got in trouble tonight for not being obedient. She began crying and told me that she is "tired of having to listen to everybody!"

I've often felt bad for kids. I can't remember or imagine how it feels to be told everything to do and when to do it by everyone in your life.

It was just another example of Sarah's fierce independence and strong will. I can't imagine easy-going Ben ever complaining about everyone telling him what to do, if we tell him what to do, I think he figures that's just something he doesn't need to think about.

Aaack, Gack!

Preschool teachers are wonderful people. I love preschool teachers, even though they repeatedly send my children home with things that make me go aaackkk! Sarah made "goo" at school and brought it home to play with. It was really a white silly putty substance.


Besides entertaining her at school, it occupied her at home for over an hour...
That's GOOD stuff!!!

The Hair on her head

So, I've gotten hooked on Sarah's hair. Saw some blogs that moms have about the hairstyles they do on their girls, and I thought "I can do that." Sarah proudly tells everyone that I get my ideas from the "puter."
I tried rag curls on her hair. She slept in them overnight. Even though I used great curl products and the rags worked great, the curls held in her board straight hair for only a few hours. It was adorable while it lasted, though.
This simple hairstyle worked great. Her hair was just the right length for it and it held perfect all day.

Boys and their bugs

Big Ben caught this leaf bug a few nights ago. Both kids got to take it to share with their classes before they released it back into the wild.

Ben's Letter

Before going to bed tonight Ben decided that he needed to write a letter to Super Grandma. He made the ghost to go at the top and composed the letter himself. I'm sure she will love it.

An apple a day

Dessert at our house last night was gigantic apples. The kids looked so funny eating apples that were almost as big as their heads. Apple season in Tehachapi is a VERY exciting time.
